Last Friday, I was on-call; in the middle of night, I received a call for an urgent portable chest X-ray at accident and emergency department. Patient was at the resuscitation bay and patient's condition was really bad! His condition got worsen and the medical officer coded the emergency code! I was waiting for my turn to do the portable chest X-ray but the medical officers, the nurses, and the medical team were really busy doing CPR and trying to resuscitate the patient. Then, I was send off because it was not a suitable time to do the portable chest X-ray. One of the nurse in charge told that they will call me again after they send the patient to Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
I was waited for an hour before the next X-ray but in the end, X-ray was not perform because patient couldn't make it and passed away!
Not the first time I experience this. In my previous working place, I participated twice in CPR to resuscitated two different patients and one of them died in front of me and the medical team!
Moments like this, not a nice one to experience but it taught me a valuable lesson that LIFE IS SO FRAGILE! I always like to say this, "Don't take things for granted especially your loved ones!" The fragility of life is way beyond what we can imagine!
Totally agree with you! Keep on blogging Jacky!
