[PRE-Twenty Fourteen] What a GREAT Lost!

[I wanted to write this post before Christmas but it was so difficult to put into words. Therefore this post was delayed until today]

It wasn't nice and it was painful when I received a sad news early in the morning, that one of my ex-radiologist from my previous work place passed away due to myocardial infarction [heart attack]! I wasn't really that close to him but there was two incidences with him that had make me harder to accept his sudden passing!

I didn't have a good working relationship with him at first; he made me so upset one day on the phone and I was so disappointed with him. Until one fine night, I dreamed about him! I was so surprised and it was really strange [strange not because I dreamed about him but the dream changed my perceptive about him!] I even wrote a post about it [http://jackyltroy-morethanwords.blogspot.com/2011/10/strange-dream.html] Personally, I don't believe in coincidence, therefore the dream wasn't coincidence, God was preparing me to see a different side of him in real life! Guess what, few months after that, something took place and changed our working relationship! To my [and also some of colleagues] surprise, he came to me and talked to me like a friend! From then onwards, I really enjoyed working with him.

A month before I left to a different work place, I came across a case where I was working with him. Due to some miscommunication, he became a little agitated and he scolded me! I was so upset and I knew it was just some miscommunication in between. Since it was my last month of working, so I didn't take his scolding seriously where I just accepted it without being angry at him. Shortly after the case finished, I continued with my work, suddenly he came in into the examination room to check the radio-graphs, then, he talked to me nicely regarding the incidence that took place and he reassured me.

[His assurance was one of the many great memories that I had before I left; also cherished and missed!]

Sadly, I left my work place without saying goodbye to him because he wasn't around on my last day! Thought of going back to meet him but now, it will be something that I can't do it anymore!

[You'll be deeply missed and always remembered!]

The fragility of life is way beyond our imagination! Don't take things for granted especially your loved ones and friends. Therefore, here is my suggestion, why not take this year as the opportunity to spend more quality times with your loved ones and also your friends!

Blessed New Year!

Passion Above All Else

["The purpose of a doctor or any human in general should not be to simply delay the death of the patient, but to increase the person's quality of life." - Patch Adams]

Last night, my friend, who is a medical student, felt really sad when she aware that sometimes the medicine that she studying couldn't help the dying patient. And I completely understand how she feels...

..........

Whether you are a doctor, or a nurse, or any medical worker, your passion in your work must be always above anything else! But sadly, when someone is too immune to their job and make it into a routine task or make their job to earn more money instead of earning a living, slowly their passion will be replace! I am a human and can be very easily caught up with my duty as a Radiographer, nothing but scanning and making sure that every examination done on time and also there is no delay in any appointment! But I really thank God for constantly reminding me about my purpose of life as an ambassador of Joy for every suffered ones especially the cancer patient.

Although, at times, I can't do much for some of my patients but I know one thing for sure is that I can lend my ears to them and give them my best-est SMILE, prayerfully my little effort can bring them joy! I strongly believe that a CHEERFUL heart can does good like a medicine!

"A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
-Proverbs 17:22

..........

You only have one life, do something about it by living it passionately! :)
God bless!

The Beginning of Something New

Day 5, having lunch alone; again, already 3 times in this week. Well, I am still very much a stranger to this new environment where it will be my second home because I will be spending 9.5 hours out of my precious 24 hours in this place from Monday to Friday.

There is always a price to pay every time when you make a decision to move on from one season to another season or from one chapter to another chapter. Everyone wondered why I left my previous working place; the famous and glamorous to this small and not so famous place. Well, the reason of my leaving is not important anymore as I already left but at least I am really happy now with this current place where I am working. It is completely a new experience and excitement for me!

'PET CT Scan' is one of the new things that I learn here. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to gain this new experience although it is quite a dangerous thing to do especially handling with radioactive source. However, handling and encountering with cancer patients here in this place can be quite demotivating to me because it really break my heart seeing my patients going through the tough battle and their darkest times of their life. This kind of heartache is painful and it can even make me cry!

I am grateful and thankful, and also really blessed that God use all these cancer patients to touch and soften my heart especially at times when my heart is so harden! God also use them to encourage and to inspire me to live my life to the fullest and also to live it purposefully! All these cancer patients; they are fighting really hard to live another day and they didn't give up on hope! How about me, or us, who are healthy and strong, shall we just give up easily just because of a little or a simple thing happen while these people didn't give up and keep fighting. To those who ever have the thought of suicide, please think again! Look at these people, who are dying to live another day while you can have today and yet, you just want to end it because of a failure? Aren't that silly to have such a thought or decision to commit suicide?

Just only 5 days here but what I gained and learned is far more than I can imagine. The experience that I gained and the lesson that I learned is so priceless and precious! It really can help to shape my character especially to be more humble, to treasure whatever I have and not to take things for granted like my loved ones.

Life is a GIFT; it is not about how long it lasted but how we live it!
God bless! :)

The Beautiful Brown Eyes

Yesterday, 9/6/2012 - I was on-call. As usual, I am really not into my on-call duty because it is very tiring at times especially at night where you don't get to sleep! But yesterday, I was on-call from 1300 to 1800, therefore it was not so bad.

One very positive reason that make me excited about on-call is able to listen to patient's story. Yesterday, what a blessed opportunity that I had that able to listen to this uncle sharing his journey with me. I just stood next to his bed and asked about his chemotherapy session. Listening to his testimony and looking through his beautiful brown eyes, I could see a fire of hope and a strong fighting spirit in him that he is not giving up although the struggle that he is going through now. I was so inspired and encouraged! His testimony had melted my harden heart and I thanked God for showing this great man to touched my heart by being a great reminder to me that I must live my life to the fullest and to live it for the purpose that God had prepare for me!

It is sad to see many people take their life for granted while there are so many people in this world fighting so hard just to live another day of their life. Sometimes, I am so tired about my journey of life and I feel like want to give up the race. I bet I am not alone here but I thank God that every time when I feel like giving up, He will be there to show me His everlasting LOVE and renew my strength by filling my heart with His everlasting JOY. I don't know how many times God had piggy-back me or carry me in His arms especially during the time when I was tired and felt like giving up but I am very sure that He will always be there for me to catch me whenever I fall and He will run with me in this race until the day I see Him face to face!

We only got one life to live, do something and don't take it for granted! God bless!

Code BLUE

If you are working in a hospital or if you are part of a medical team, you will surely know what is 'Code Blue'. What is 'Code Blue'? According to Mr Wikipedia, "Code Blue" is generally used to indicate a patient requiring resuscitation or otherwise in need of immediate medical attention, most often as the result of a respiratory arrest or cardiac arrest.

Last Friday, I was on-call; in the middle of night, I received a call for an urgent portable chest X-ray at accident and emergency department. Patient was at the resuscitation bay and patient's condition was really bad! His condition got worsen and the medical officer coded the emergency code! I was waiting for my turn to do the portable chest X-ray but the medical officers, the nurses, and the medical team were really busy doing CPR and trying to resuscitate the patient. Then, I was send off because it was not a suitable time to do the portable chest X-ray. One of the nurse in charge told that they will call me again after they send the patient to Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

I was waited for an hour before the next X-ray but in the end, X-ray was not perform because patient couldn't make it and passed away!

Not the first time I experience this. In my previous working place, I participated twice in CPR to resuscitated two different patients and one of them died in front of me and the medical team!

Moments like this, not a nice one to experience but it taught me a valuable lesson that LIFE IS SO FRAGILE! I always like to say this, "Don't take things for granted especially your loved ones!" The fragility of life is way beyond what we can imagine!

\ˈpa-shən\

I always have *\ˈpa-shən\ in photography because I like to capture priceless and precious moments to create sweet memories!
*\ˈpa-shən\ = Passion

Today, a typical Saturday, where I need to get up early and prepare to go to work! In my opinion, Saturday can be quite unpredictable for radiology department in Sunway Medical Centre because it can be very busy at times and sometimes, it can be very quiet. Well, today, it was just in between.

After a few x-rays here and there, the radiology general x-ray team received a case from the accident and emergency department where this patient came with bruises on the left shoulder. He had an accident where he hit onto a fallen tree which was on the road with the bicycle that he was riding. Then, his wife came and started nagging at him and warned him not to go cycling anymore and he responded with a smile. After that in the x-ray room, he said, "my wife don't allow me to cycle anymore!"

After all the x-rays, we sent him to the CT scan room to do a CT brain. One of my colleagues asked him about the accident and about the cycling event and he was so excited and he said that he is not giving up on cycling although he had a few accidents before! Wow, he is indeed really passionate in what he likes to do!

Have you ever feel like want to give up in doing something that you like to do because of some tough obstacles? I did and not just once but many times! But I thank God, who never fails to get my feet back on the ground every time when I feel like giving up!

Don't give up ya! Obstacles are not here to bring us down but to make us stronger and wiser, so that we can be more passionate in doing something that we like to do!

Cheerio l^-^l God bless ya!

-Hooray! Hooray! (It's A Holi-Holiday) by Boney M"

Friday, May 28 2010 - Today is a public holiday; it is also my first day of my one week radiation leaves! I was given off days so that I can temporary staying away from radiation. Exposing too much to radiation can be really bad for my health, therefore, I am given off days to rest from radiation. By the way, I am a Radiographer by profession!

Today, my brother, Timmy came back to Ipoh together with his girlfriend, Tania! Then, my mum, Timmy, Tania and I went out for dinner together! We had 'Bak Ku Teh' -awesome Fat-Low-Ship ('fellowship') together- After dinner we went to Jusco and Tesco to do some shopping and getting something for tomorrow steamboat dinner. I thought going to Jusco to get my favorite Pretzel with Cinnamon Sugar from Auntie Anne's Pretzels, unfortunately, it was finished! So sad... Well, is okay, at least I got my sushi!

Back home after shopping; we sat at the living hall and watching tv together! While watching, we had sushi together and also Cupcakes from Bisou Bake Shop! Yummy! Thanks Tania for the cupcakes!

Black sesame seed and Coffee!

Wow, I had an awesome family bonding today! Praise the Lord! There are more to come on tomorrow! I am excited and can't wait for it!
